A number of transport options are available to the medical suite:

1. Drive and park

Hospital carparks incur a fee. Metered street parking is limited. Please allow extra time to find a carpark as it can be very busy.

Refer to this link for extra information on carparks in the precinct: http://www.mater.org.au/Home/Location/General-Parking

2. Public transport

BUS:

The Mater Hill Bus Stop on the Southern Busway is next to our clinic and a few minutes walk to our suite.

TRAIN:

South Bank Train Station is an easy 10-20 minute walk along Stanley St to our suite.

3. Getting dropped off

The easiest drop off and collection point is at the cul de sac end of Water Street where there is direct entrance to Level 3 of the Mater Private Clinic.

Arrival time and Preparation

Due to the growth of the South Brisbane/Mater precinct, car parking can take time. Please allow sufficient time to travel and find a park on the day of your appointment if you plan on driving.

Prior to your appointment, a Patient Information Sheet will need to be completed. You can complete this at home prior to your appointment by downloading the form here……… and bring with you the day of your appointment.

Alternatively, please allow an extra 15 minutes to complete the form in our suite before your scheduled appointment.

At Brisbane Colorectal, we endeavour to see all our patients at their scheduled appointment time.  On the rare occasion due to unforseen circumstances, the doctor will need to reschedule. Should this occur, reception staff will contact you.

What do I need to bring?

1) Please bring your Private Health Insurance card and Medicare card to your appointment.

2) All patients seen in our suite require a current referral. If this has not already been sent to our practice, please bring this with you on the day of your appointment.

3) Please bring any relevant scans, pathology results or medical history reports to your initial consultation.

Booking for procedures/surgery

If your consultation results in a recommendation for a procedure or surgery, this can be booked with our front desk staff following your consultation.  Alternatively, you can contact the rooms at a later time to make a suitable booking.

As Dr. Gillespie and Dr. Slack work across both the private and public sectors, surgery and endoscopic procedures are only performed at Mater Private Hospital on certain days which alter from week to week.

Speak to our front desk staff, or feel free to contact your surgeon should you wish to discuss the timing of your procedure further. We will always do our best to fit in with preferences, within the framework of surgeon availability.

Preparation for your procedure/surgery

Prior to your procedure/surgery, you will receive written information, including an Informed Consent Form to sign and an estimate of the cost of the procedure.

If any pre-operative preparation is required, (eg bowel preparation or medication), instructions will be outlined to you at the time of booking your surgery. It is very important to follow these instructions. If any information is not completely clear to you, please do not hesitate to contact our rooms for clarification.
